Who are DANAI?

DANAI was established almost 20 years ago, by a small group of nurses who identified a need for specific training, practice standards and peer support for qualified nurses working in this very specialised area of dermatology nursing.

DANAI now has over 100 members working in the Republic of Ireland.

Each nurse MUST be registered with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) to become a member

- This means, we are accountable for our nursing practice

Nurses registered to practice in the Republic of Ireland are required to deliver their care in accordance with a strict Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.

We are not permitted to work outside our Scope of Practice

- This means that each nurse is responsible and accountable for making a judgement as to whether or not they are competent to perform or administer a treatment.

This Applies to nurses working in ALL clinical areas.

Patient Safety has always been a passion for registered nurses working in this industry. Each of our founding members remain heavily involved in DANAI’s growth and development.

These nursing experts work with leading pharma companies to deliver ongoing training and education to an increasing number of nurses, doctors and dentists. They also provide experienced peer support to all DANAI members seeking to develop their practice.

We welcome the progression towards the Patient Safety (Licensing) Bill, which will protect members of the public from unregulated practitioners.

DANAI will continue to work collaboratively with the NMBI and the INMO (Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation) in ensuring best practice nursing standards and the promotion of patient safety within aesthetics

• Includes 12 months membership to the DANAI Dermatology Aesthetic Nurses Association Ireland

• New members are most welcome

DERMATOLOGY AESTHETIC NURSE ASSOCIATION IRELAND AIM

DANAI is a representative association for nurses practicing within Dermatology and Aesthetics in Ireland.

The aim is to provide education, training, advocacy and support for our members in collaboration with industry stakeholders.

DANAI supports its’ members who deliver high quality Dermatology Aesthetic services to the public in an ethical manner within a nursing scope of practice.
