The Role of Nurses in Medical Aesthetics

Nurses working in Medical Aesthetics play a vital role in patient care, medical assessment, education of procedures and expectations for outcome, preparation for procedures, and actually treating a range of patient issues. They ensure patient safety, provide valuable support and follow up and contribute to the overall quality of care in aesthetic clinics and medical spas and in a hospital setting, while working to a strict Code of Professional Conduct.

Nurses make up a large percentage of customers purchasing directly from manufacturers and distributors. They form upwards of 40% of customers purchasing directly from the manufacturer (doctors 24%, Dentists 11%; others including direct purchase clinics 25%). (Statistics provided by pharmaceutical companies).

In Dermatology Aesthetics, nurses offer a range of essential services. They meticulously assess patients' skin health and medical history, to craft personalised treatment plans that align with patients' aesthetic objectives. During procedures, nurses provide optimal treatment outcomes through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to sterile techniques. Patient education is a cornerstone, as they inform individuals about various procedures and expectations, their benefits, and post-treatment care requirements. With their expertise, after a thorough consultation and medical history nurses administer treatments such as PRP, Mesotherapy, Microneedling, Peels, IPL, Laser and injectables, ensuring safe and effective outcomes. Beyond procedures, they provide diligent follow-up care, monitoring patients' progress and addressing any concerns that may arise. In Dermatology Aesthetics, nurses play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care.
